You Won’t Find This In Grand Junction

A visit to In-n-Out is the highlight of any trip that affords such an opportunity. Such was the case this past weekend, when a trip to Bozeman, Montana for CMU football took us through the Salt Lake Corridor and the chance to experience the goodness of In-n-Out. With no In-n-Out in Grand Junction and none closer than over three hours away, I jumped at the chance - twice.

You won't find In-n-Out in Grand Junction - or anywhere in Colorado for that matter. It's only in California. Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and Texas that you will find the fast food chain known for delicious burgers and fresh cut fries. Currently, there are 281 locations, and apparently more will be added. The In-n-Out menu is not large. It's burgers and fries. No chicken, no tacos, no salad, no fish. Other fast food chains should take note. Do one thing. Do it well. The shakes, by the way, are delicious!

The decor is a bit retro, like something you might see in the movie Grease. There's also a drive-thru, but In-n-Out burgers should only be eaten while driving as a very last resort. They need to be savored, bite by bite.

We made the stop in Draper, Utah at 10:30am on the way up to Bozeman. Oh, yes!!!  As we left we checked the hours on the door. They are open until 1:30am. With any luck we will make it back through in time. Sure enough, 12:45am on Sunday we pull into the Draper In-n-Out. Turns out the burgers taste just as good after midnight as they do before noon.

I don't know if we will ever get In-n-Out in Grand Junction, but until then, those road trips through Utah and Arizona are always going to feature multiple stops at In-n-Out.
