FOUNTAIN, Colo. (AP) — The parents of a 6-year-old transgender girl have filed a complaint with the Colorado Office of Civil Rights after her school district refused to allow her to use the girls' bathroom.

Jeremy and Kathryn Mathis were at the State Capitol in Denver yesterday to announce the complaint filed against the Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8.

Coy Mathis is a boy, but has been diagnosed with a condition in which she identifies as a girl. She is a first-grader at Eagleside Elementary School.
