Fan reaction to the new 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' movie has been mixed, to say the very least, and our first look at the re-imagined supervillain Shredder isn't going to change that. The arch-nemesis of the Turtles' ninja master was once one of the world's greatest (and most evil) martial artists, but now he looks, well, like the Silver Samurai from 'The Wolverine.'

It's a big change for a character that, up to this point, has been consistently portrayed across comics, cartoons and movies. Some fans are going to hate it. Some fans are going to love it. Non-fans are probably just tickled by how the great character actor William Fichtner is the one suiting up to fight a bunch of pizza-loving reptiles.

The new 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' image was revealed on Twitter:

Shredder certainly looks menacing enough, especially when looming over the Turtles' mentor, the pint-sized Splinter (voiced by Tony Shalhoub), with those absurdly large blades. Though, we'll reserve any final judgment on this portrayal until we see him in action onscreen. Right now, we'll just say we're happy that Fichtner is getting work.

'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' is directed by Jonathan Liebesman, produced by Michael Bay, and has a human cast that includes Megan Fox, Will Arnett and Whoopi Goldberg. Click on the image below to get a better look.
