With the number of reported cases of flu continuing to rise and the increased demand for the flu vaccine, the Mesa County Health Department is hosting two no-appointment flu shot clinics.The first clinic will be held at the Mesa County Central Services Building at First and Spruce Streets on Thursday (Jan 17).  The second clinic will be held at the Salvation Army located at Fourth and Glenwood on January 22. Hours for both clinics are from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Cost for the shot is $20.

Persons attending the clinics are reminded to bring their health insurance card if they want the cost to be billed to insurance.

People unable to attend one of the two clinics can make an appointment or walk-in at the Mesa County Health Department. Call 970-248-6989 for days and times. Many local pharmacies are also offering flu vaccines.

According to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, four children have died and 674 people in Colorado have been hospitalized with the flu this season.
