It’s now official, the Colorado Avalanche have made Patrick Roy the 6th head coach in Avalanche history. When Patrick Roy came toDenver he had already been in the league for 10 years and had won two Stanly Cups withMontreal.Roy was expected to lead a young Avalanche team to a place they had never been and he did.Roy wrapped up his Hall of Fame career with a pair of championships inDenver. Now, the Avalanche want him to do it again.

After retiring, Royjoined the Quebec Ramparts as part owner, general manager and coach. In his rookie year Roylead his team to a championship, becoming the 7th rookie coach to do so in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Now, the Avalanche want him to work his magic at the NHL level.Roy has a good cast to start with. The core of the young Avalanche are just 23-years-old and with the first pick in the 2013 draft,Colorado will get another top young player. It won’t happen over night but I think with Joe Sakic in the front office andRoy behind the bench the magic will return to the Colorado Avalanche.
