A Colorado Mesa University student claims he wanted to be known as the person who assassinated President Barack Obama, and now sits in jail.
The student in question, 20 year old Mitchell Kusick, who is from Westminster and takes courses online bragged to authorities. He told them about how he learned to shoot assault rifles at a Grand Junction shooting range and his plots to kill.

Mitchell had apparently planned to kill children as they went out on Halloween at Standley Lake High School in Westminster. The federal affidavit adds, "Kusick said that he is obsessed with the Columbine shootings, Virginia Tech shootings and Jessica Ridgeway abduction. Kusick also said that he's been trying to keep track of President Obama's visits to the Denver Metro Area."

Mitchell was busted on Friday in Denver and formally advised of charges. He is being held without bond and is due back in court for a detention hearing Friday November 16, 2012.

The Secret Service became involved after a call by the Westminster police department on October 20, 2012 about Mitchell after he called his therapist on October 29th. He told his therapist he fought with his parents, been kicked out of the house and took a ton of cash from his savings account. He added he stole his relatives firearms and hid it in their home. He then tried to unsuccessfully purchase ammunition for it at Wal-Mart.

He told the therapist he planned to use the gun to kill children on Halloween at the high school hoping for a showdown with law enforcement. Adding he has had homicidal fantasies daily for over half a decade. Mitchell said he wanted to "go down in history as the guy who killed Obama." Mitchell claimed to police that he had no political motive and believes Obama has done a good job as president.

Mitchell told police he spent years planning his killing spree, was fascinated with learning to build bombs and even obtained blueprints for the school. He told authorities, "Some people just want to watch the world burn down, and I'm one of them."
