The National Weather Service in Colorado and Wyoming issued High Wind Advisories this week because the warmer weather also brought in wind gusts into the 60 and 70 miles per hour range. This is what the wind can do to a lighter vehicle with a high profile.

Luckily no one was seriously injured when this semi was tipped over by the gusty winds as it was captured on this Wyoming State Patrol car's dash cam. Trucks were also tipped over on I-25 in northern Colorado.

I-70 was shut down for a little over two hours on Friday(February 10) over the Continental Divide because of gusty conditions. Add snow or rain into the mix and this gets more dangerous.

You should always check road condition before traveling over mountain passes in Colorado, as conditions can be drastically different than in the valley on the Western Slope or on the front range. Up to date road conditions can be gotten online at cotrip.org or by downloading the CDOT Mobile app.
