Where To Find Mardi Gras In Colorado

Here are a few places to get a taste of New Orleans in Colorado.

As I reported last year I've been to New Orleans on several occasions. I've been there for Mardi Gras too and once you've been a part of it, you'll want to do it again! The music, food, beads, booze, parade floats, and outrageous costumes, it's the party of parties!

There's nothing quite like being in New Orleans for Mardi Gras but there are a few places in Colorado to experience some of the fun. Fat Tuesday is next week and here's a list of some of the happenings.

Steamboat Springs- The ski resort town that calls itself "Ski Town USA" throws a pretty big Mardi Gras party! On Saturday, March 2ed the ski area has a parade, street performers and a free concert with Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas. The town's restaurants whip up some Southern dishes throughout the weekend, including gumbo, po’ boys, etouffee, and a crawfish boil!

Breckenridge- The town's celebrating Mardi Gras with a parade and a free concert by the Hazel Miller Band on Fat Tuesday, March 5th! I've seen Hazel a couple of times with Big Head Todd and she's amazing! The parade's a pretty big deal with $500 prize for the most creative float!

Denver- If you can make it over to the front range this weekend you may want to take in Denver's shindig! Colorado's biggest Mardi Gras party is Denver’s celebration is at the Expo Event Center on Saturday, March 2ed. The place looks and feels like Bourbon Street in New Orleans. This year's theme is “Seven Deadly Sins.” There are live bands, DJs, tarot readers, face painters, burlesque dancers, and more than 60 performers!

Keystone- The Mardi Gras party at Keystone is all about the food! Most notably gumbo, so come hungry! The Keystone Mardi Gras party and River Run Gumbo Cook-Off is on Fat Tuesday, March 5th. Get your ticket and sample homemade gumbo and vote for your favorite. There's live music by Chris Daniels and the Kings.

These are just a few of the parties around Colorado this weekend and on Fat Tuesday. I hope you get out and get a little Mardi Gras in ya and as they say in New Orleans "Laissez les bons temps rouler!" which means "let the good times roll!"
