Are you ready for Mardi-Gras? Are you in Western Colorado, and have no chance of making it to New Orleans? Don't worry, there's a pre-Fat Tuesday party coming to town.

The pre-Fat Tuesday party is actually on Monday, and it's coming to Grand Junction's Warehouse 2565 Kitchen + Bar. What exactly is a pre-Fat Tuesday party? I'm glad you asked. Unfortunately, I haven't a clue as to the answer.

I do know this. Grand Junction's very own Western Colorado Jazz Orchestra will be putting on a show featuring a handful of New Orleans influenced tunes. You'll hear many Dixieland standards, and even a blues or two.

How did this come about? Sorry, but you're going to get the same answer; I haven't a clue.

I've been to the French Quarter before, but never during Mardi Gras. Hey, it's crazy enough in mid-April. Who needs Mardi Gras? If you've been to the French Quarter, then you know it is a riot. That place is fun. A person can get themselves into some serious trouble in that part of town.

How about we celebrate in our neighborhood? The show is coming up Monday, February 24, with music starting at 7:30 p.m.

The Western Colorado Jazz Orchestra is a 16-piece Big Band performing various events and concerts around the valley. Dancing is encouraged. Tickets are $20 in advance.

Save yourself a little travel time and a ton of money, and celebrate Fat Tuesday here in town. Of course, this party is on the Monday before, so you'll have to make an effort to keep your days straight. You're encouraged to fire up your Mardi Gras beads.
