While some states are more diverse in ethnicities than others, certain parts of Colorado, namely the bigger cities, are home to a variety of people from all over the globe.

It likely comes as no surprise to hear that the majority of immigrants living in Colorado today were born in Mexico, but the second-most common birthplace in the state may not be the place you'd expect.

What is the Second-Most Common Birthplace of Colorado Immigrants?

Recent data shows that besides Mexico, the most common country of origin for immigrants currently living in Colorado is India.

To expand beyond the Centennial State, India is also the second-most common country of origin for immigrants living in Kansas, as well as many of the states in the midwest, east coast, and even some of the south.

That country changes to Guatemala in Nebraska, The Philippines in Wyoming, Vietnam in Oklahoma, and Germany in New Mexico.

Of course, there are a number of states whose second-most common birthplace of immigrants is Canada, though they are interestingly condensed into two geographical areas.

For example, the largest group of states with Canadian immigrants begins in North Dakota and Montana in the north and continues through Idaho, Utah, and Arizona, while the other is located in the northernmost region of New England.
