As of yesterday, the Stop N' Save convenience store on Horizon Drive in Grand Junction is closed. What happened?

Make your way down Horizon Drive and you'll see a fence erected around the perimeter of the store. The sign reads "CLOSED."

The good news is it will reopen in January 2019. Construction of a new facility has been going on for some time directly behind the convenience store. As of yesterday, the doors closed and fences went up.

A new Stop N' Save is under construction at the same site at 723 Horizon Drive. Considerable progress has already been made. It seems the existing retail space stayed in operation as long as possible. If you think about it, January 2019 is not that far away.

Looking at the artist rendering, it appears this new store will be amazing. At a glance, it looks to be much larger. Additional services such as Hunt Brothers Pizza will be a part of the new store.

I'm glad to see this is simply an upgrade and not a store closure. Grand Junction has seen too many closures in recent history.

Here's looking forward to an awesome new Convenience store. This location has typically been my last stop before hitting the road and jumping on I-70. The larger space and additional services will be appreciated.
