Grand Junction just received its first legitimate snowfall for the 2015 season. What did a Western Colorado winter look like when the town was smaller, and at a time when 4-wheel-drive wasn't commonplace?

When was the last time you saw a group of people trying to push a car out of a downtown parking place? In the age of 4-Wheel and All-Wheel drive, you don't see this much anymore. That, plus the fact some economy cars are so compact you can pretty much pick them up by yourself, has made sights such as this almost extinct.

Nowadays, if you want to ice skate, no need to wait for winter; just head to the local ice rink.

The images above were photographed by Daily Sentinel photographer Robert Grant during the 1940s and 50s. Okay, so one of the photos was taken in the 1970s, but it really added to the video.
