Are you ready for music featuring sixteen of your favorite Western Colorado musicians? The Western Colorado Jazz Orchestra is set to return after a six-month absence.

Can you believe the Western Colorado Jazz Orchestra hasn't performed publicly since September 24, 2020? Their last show was a ticketed, socially-distanced show at Warehouse 2565.

Where have they been?

Thanks to COVID-19, the fall and winter concert seasons completely evaporated. Here we are, March 10, 2021, and the band is gearing up for an awesome concert season.

How is everyone doing?

The band appears to be in great shape. It's interesting to note the band's penultimate concert was a full six months before the September 24, 2020 show. COVID-19 did its thing, and the band was forced to take a hiatus from March 2020 until the September 24 show.

That's a long break.

At tomorrow night's (March 11) rehearsal, the members of the Western Colorado Jazz Orchestra will be turning in their Christmas music folders. That's right, the band members are still in possession of the material for the Christmas concert that never happened.

What's on the horizon?

Right here, right now, the Western Colorado Jazz Orchestra does not have a scheduled concert date. The WCJO is managed by the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra and works in concert (pun intended) with the Symphony when scheduling shows.

This will be the first time the musicians have seen one another in a long time.

Tomorrow night's rehearsal is proving to be a very big deal for the musicians. These artists love to play, and they've missed having opportunities to play for you. The opportunity to get together to begin work on a new concert program is proving to be a breath of fresh air for the band members.

In the meantime....

If you're more than ready to enjoy a concert, the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra has a performance coming up in exactly one month. The GJSO's "Celebration of Strings" is scheduled for April 10 and 11, 2021, at the Avalon Theatre. Tickets are available now.
