Gold, silver, and other valuables have been hidden in treasure chests in Utah and they are up for grabs.

Exploring Utah's great outdoors could be a lucrative endeavor for some lucky outdoor enthusiasts who stumble upon one of 10 treasure chests worth between $1000 and $10,000. It's just a matter of finding them.

Why the Hidden Treasure?

According to KSL TV, the hidden treasure is the work of Wesley Weber who has been saving up to fill these treasure chests with gold, silver, and gems. Webber runs an expedition business and has hidden the treasure as a way to motivate people to get out and explore Utah's outdoors. He says the treasure chests have been hidden in locations all across the state from northeastern Utah in the Wasatch Mountains, to near St. George, and south of Moab. In addition to gold and silver, each treasure chest includes a national parks pass.

Of course, Utah is a big, beautiful state, and trying to find a small treasure chest is no easy task. Just ask the guy who was trying to find the proverbial needle in a haystack. Consequently, Weber is offering clues and riddles to help treasure hunters in their quest to find riches.  Weber posted his first video clue last week to help get treasure seekers pointed in the right direction.

Utah Loves to Hide Treasure

Wesley Webber's treasure hunt isn't the first time this year someone has hidden treasure in Utah. Earlier this summer we shared the story about a $10,000 treasure that had been hidden in Utah by John Maxim and David Cline.

 Are You A Treasure Hunter?

It's not that $1,000 or even $10,0000 is going to dramatically change your life like winning a multi-million dollar lottery, but it would be pretty cool to find one of these treasure chests. After all, treasure is treasure. Are you up for the challenge?

Weber says one of the treasure chests is located south of Moab - which, of course, isn't that far from Grand Junction. It might be worth the drive - and a day of exploring to try and find the hidden treasure. You just never know what you might find.
