Since Russia started its invasion of Ukraine, there have been a whole bunch of people who have lost everything, their homes, their belongings, family members, friends, and in general life as they've known it.

It's been heartbreaking to see, to say the least, and in addition to that heartbreak for the people, millions of animals have suffered through the invasions and bombings and now it appears that Colorado is a safe haven for a bunch of lions who were recently rescued.

Eleven lions have been rescued from a zoo in Ukraine and have been airlifted to, according to Cision PR Newswire, the Wildlife Sanctuary here in Colorado.

Several world organizations had to get involved to get this massive project up and rolling and off the ground but the bottom line is they did and the project was successful thanks to a lot of hard work and due diligence.

The Greater Good, The Global Federation of Wildlife Sanctuaries (GFAS), Tigers in America, Warriors of Wildlife, the Simbonga Wildlife Sanctuary in South Africa and of course our very own Wildlife Sanctuary here in Colorado all played a major role in relocating the lions.

Pat Craig was both elated and relieved that the rescue was executed and completely safely:

“We are thankful we could get all the lions out in time and save them. That’s what matters. They will live out the rest of their lives in pristine, large, natural habitats.”

Big shout out to all involved in getting those lions out of a war-torn country and to a safe location.

Amazing Wildlife Viewing At Colorado Drive-Thru Refuge

The Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge actually isn't all that new, but there are plenty of folks in Colorado who are yet to make the discovery. With more than 15,000 acres of land, it's one of the largest urban wildlife refuges in the country.
