Thrillist Names Stanley Hotel As Most Haunted Place in Colorado
It's Halloween, and you know what that means: Colorado's haunted locales are put in the spotlight, and none more so than the famous Stanley Hotel.
Thrillist recently put together a list of the "Most Haunted Places in America", which includes the Yuma Territorial Prison in Arizona, Turnbull Canyon in California, and of course, the Stanley Hotel.
If you've lived under a rock for your entire time in Colorado, this information might be surprising to you: The Stanley Hotel was the inspiration for the haunted hotel in Stephen King's famous novel The Shining. Visitors have famously reported seeing the ghosts of old service workers, and many ghost hunters like to stay on the haunted fourth floor. Weirdly, though, Thrillist thinks the elevation is the scariest part:
Be warned: There's a much more sinister danger. The hotel has such an extreme elevation that just walking to your room can drain you, so one stiff drink may have you seeing ghosts.
