The Reason for Memorial Day

Its Memorial Day Weekend the official start of the summer season. The weekend will be full of BBQ’s, get together and camping, but this is not the reason for the holiday. While it is important to be with family and friends over the long weekend, the practice of Memorial Day was started after the American Civil War to commemorate the fallen Union and Confederate soldiers. Memorial Day is now a day to honor all American who have died in service of our great country. So, while you enjoy this long weekend, all BBQ and cold beer, take a moment to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to keep our freedom alive. Have a great weekend.
