There is a serious need for doggie foster homes in Colorado.

No doubt, you have seen and heard in the news about the bitter cold temperatures that have been gripping the state of Texas in recent days. Power has been out, pipes have been frozen, and it has been miserable. Not only has it created hardship for humans, but it has also made things difficult for animals.

According to 9 News, more than one hundred puppies, dogs, and nursing mothers were rescued in the Texas cold and are scheduled to arrive in Colorado next week, where they will be placed in foster homes across the state.

Moms and Mutts Colorado Rescue (MAMCO) is a foster-based non-profit dedicated to saving pregnant or nursing dogs and their litters. They are getting ready to transport 117 dogs from Texas to Colorado next Tuesday.

Apparently, so many dogs were dumped and abandoned in the cold in Texas, there is no place for them to go. It's heart-wrenching anytime we hear of dogs being deserted and left alone. It's deplorable. Thankfully, organizations like MAMCO are equipped to rescue these unwanted canines with the support and help of their amazing volunteers.

Anyone who is interested in providing a foster home for one of these dogs should fill out an application. Once an application is reviewed and approved, a representative from MAMCO will contact the applicant to discuss which dogs they want to adopt as well as the length of time they are willing to commit to the dogs. MAMCO will provide everything the dog needs in its new foster home including playpens, food, toys, puppy pads, etc.

For dog lovers who are unable to provide foster care but want to help, there are a number of ways to donate and help this non-profit financially. They are always in need of things like blankets, sheets, towels, puppy food, doggie beds and toys, and much more. You can see a full list of needed items here.

While these Texas dogs are immediately looking for temporary homes, hopefully,  many of them will find warm forever homes in Colorado that are filled with doggie love.
