Duncan Keith and Patrick Kane scored goals and goalie Corey Crawford was flawless in net, as the Blackhawks shut out the Tampa Bay Lightning, 2-0, in Game 6 of the 2015 Stanley Cup Finals in Chicago on Monday night. With the win, Chicago captured their third NHL championship in six seasons.

"Stanley Cup." There are no two more powerful words in sports (this side of "Game 7," of course).

On Friday night, the Los Angeles Kings put the finishing touches on their second Stanley Cup win in three years by defeating the New York Rangers 3-2 in overtime. After the win, the ice was quickly packed with friends and family of the players. One woman, in particular, probably regrets heading out on to the ice.

It was just 18-years ago today that the Colorado Avalanche won their first Stanley Cup in team history. It was the very first world title in a pro-sports that the city of Denver had won. The Broncos had been to the Super Bowl but came up a little short; the Nuggets have yet to play in the NBA finals and the Rockies didn’t make the World Series until 2007.

It has been 20-years since a team from Canada has won Lord Stanley’s Cup, will that drought finally come to an end this year? With the Montreal Canadians win last night over the Boston Bruins they are Canada’s best and only hope.

Tonight the Boston Bruins visit the Chicago Blackhawks, two of the original six teams in the NHL, to begin play in the 2013 Stanley Cup Finals. The Bruins have won the Cup six times in their history, most recently in 2011. The Blackhawks have won four Cup, their most recent 2010.
