When you're a member of Mesa County Search and Rescue, you never know when or where the next rescue will come from. In this case, it was Mount Garfield.
Over the weekend, it was reported by Yahoo News that the President was going to rename Mt. McKinley in Alaska to Denali. That prompted me to research why Mt. Garfield is called what it is. Since settlers began locating here in 1882, one year after President Garfield was assassinated, it's no surprise that's how it got the name. But, what if we could change it?
