Montrose Colorado

Montrose, Colorado is a small rural town on Colorado's western slope. Montrose became an incorporated town on May, 2 1882. The town was named after the novel by Sir Walter Scott, A Legend of Montrose. Montrose is located south of western Colorado's major town, Grand Junction, Colo.

Montrose's irrigation water comes from the Gunnison Tunnel, a major infrastructure project in 1909 that pulls water from the Gunnison River. This irrigation provides the water that creates Montrose's major agricultural products.

Montrose is known as a gateway hub for recreation, as its proximity is close to major ski resorts, mountain bike trails, and other Colorado outdoor activities. Montrose is also the gateway to Colorado's Black Canyon of the Gunnison.
