With Transformers: The Last Knight, Michael Bay has created an alternate universe in which giant robots in disguise have been helping humanity through every historical conflict you can imagine. In a video yesterday, Anthony Hopkins’ voiceover explained that they’ve “been here forever,” but exactly WHY Earth is so important to them remains a mystery. The Last Knight will explore a little of that history, from King Arthur to Japanese samurai, while also making a quick pit stop in the 1940s.

Who is the best Transformer? Correct, it’s Bumblebee. The trusty little Camaro who communicates half in speech and half with the assistance of sound bites from his radio is getting his own spinoff, and Paramount is looking at a release date sometime in 2018. Michael Bay, who is now in the process of choosing which Transformers story to do next, recently revealed that Bumblebee is going to be a prequel.

If you’re a fan of internet-famous animals, then you’re probably quite familiar with the story of Freya, the British dog whose heartbreaking story made international headlines. Turns out that director Michael Bay is also a fan of the lonely canine, and in a surprising move that will undoubtedly melt the hearts of even his most critical naysayers, he gave Freya an acting job in the new Transformers movie — opposite none other than Sir Anthony Hopkins.

Despite regular photo updates from Michael Bay, we still don’t know much about the plot for Transformers: The Last Knight. We do know that the next installment in the franchise features some new and returning faces — both human and bot — and…that’s about it. But the first official poster for the upcoming sequel may offer a clue — kind of. Sort of. Well, it involves dragons, apparently.

If you didn’t like Michael Bay’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, just know that it could’ve been a lot worse. An early draft of the script turned the Turtles into aliens from another dimension and Shredder was turned into Colonel Schroeder, a secret alien who can grow blades. Since Michael Bay decided to make Transformers: Age of Extinction his last directorial outing with the franchise, it’s been unclear just where the series is heading. We’d heard talk of Mark Wahlberg returning to continue the storyline that began with last summer’s film, but little else since then. Taking a cue from Disney’s Star Wars plans (along with every other major studio’s “expanded universe” attempts), Paramount has hired Akiva Goldsman to create a “writers room” and brainstorm new sequel and spinoff ideas.

Woe be unto humanity if teenagers discover time travel. That’s the main takeaway from the entertaining new found-footage thriller ‘Project Almanac,’ in which a quintet of adolescents find a time machine, and do exactly what a bunch of adolescents would do if they found a time machine: Party, prank, and screw around with no thought to the consequences of their actions. These kids know and cite ‘Looper’ and ‘The Terminator,’ but the movie they should have paid attention to was ‘The Butterfly Effect,’ because they seem caught off-guard when their innocent misadventures in the timestream begin to ripple out in dangerous ways.

Rumors of 'Bad Boys 3' have swirled for years -- the last we heard, it was looking for a writer, though there was no word if stars Martin Lawrence and Will Smith, and director Michael Bay would come back for another outing -- but it finally looks like things might be moving in the right direction. At least, if you think that Lawrence returning for more action is the right direction. (Hint: it is).
