Officials confirm trapt collected mosquitos test positive for the West Nile Virus.

It's confirmed. A West Nile Virus carrying mosquito has been captured within five miles of Grand Junction.

The higher water in the Colorado and Gunnison Rivers recently has created pools that are now breeding grounds for mosquitos. That means an unusually high number of the pests in and around Junction and other valley communities.
