When Marvel originally revealed their plans for Phase 3, conspicuously missing was a date for Ant-Man 2. There was some concern that Ant-Man may never get his sequel and would have to be content appearing in other Marvel things (like Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War), but those concerns have been allayed by Marvel who officially announced Ant-Man and the Wasp will open in theaters in 2018!

With the clock ticking, and the Avengers: Age of Ultron publicity tour finally winding down, it’s time to get to shooting Cap 3. Marvel announced today that production has officially begun on next summer’s massive sequel, and they also revealed four more big additions to the cast.

Marvel has long included Easter eggs in their films, referencing other superheroes and properties in the MCU throughout its current run with Disney. But there’s another Disney property that’s been acknowledged in the MCU: Star Wars. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige reveals that they’ve used the same Star Wars Easter egg in each and every one of their Phase Two films, although you probably didn’t notice it.

Ant-Man may provide Marvel it's biggest challenge yet. Yes, even bigger than that movie that starred a talking tree and a talking raccoon. For the past two weeks, there has been a deluge of 'Avengers 2' footage - clips, trailers, extended trailers, future trailers! - and we were promised one last reveal last night. While 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' had the night off, ABC ran the Marvel TV special 'From Pulp to Pop,' which looked at the history of Marvel and Marvel Studios. Sure, the veteran actor will next star in Peyton Reed's 'Ant-Man' (and he even appears to be growing some wild facial hair for the gig), but that doesn't mean that any of this comic book stuff is in his wheelhouse. The casting of Edgar Wright's 'Ant-Man' is heating up, though it looks like it's about to get 'LOST.' Evangeline Lilly, who spent six seasons stuck on an island and recently appeared as an Elf in 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,' is being courted for the film's female lead.

Early word about Edgar Wright's 'Ant-Man' was that Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt were the frontrunners to play Ant-Man/Hank Pym. With Gordon-Levitt now attached to 'The Sandman,' Rudd has landed the role, and is in early talks to sign on.
