Sunday Snow, Rain Helps Stall Cameron Peak Fire Growth
Some higher elevation parts of the Cameron Peak Fire saw about an inch of snow fall. Other areas got rainfall.
The much-needed precipitation helped keep the fire at 134,559 acres, according to an official report on Sunday night (Oct. 11). The fire had grown significantly in the days leading up to the snow and rain.
Despite some high Sunday winds, containment remained at 47%.
Here's some Sunday video from around the fire by Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith:
920 firefighters are currently sacrificing their lives and working to contain this thing the best they can and we are so thankful for them.
While we have some good news, we're certainly not out of the woods yet as the fire crews are expecting more dry, windy conditions on Monday that could wreak more havoc.
