Godsmack have filled the last few years with a hits collection, a few tours and a variety of side projects, but they're finally back with new music in 2014 as they ramp up to the release of their '1000hp' album.

One of the reasons it's been so long since we've had original music from Godsmack was that the group almost split up. In an exclusive interview, Sully Erna tells us a break of some kind was needed. "You really have to learn how to live with four guys in a tin can on wheels and tour the world and after a while everything bothers you," says Erna, who adds, "It was about exhaustion."

However, there's much more to the story. Watch the video interview above with Godsmack's Sully Erna in which he further discusses the band's near split and offers up some details on what fans can expect from their run on this year's Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival tour.
