Suffocation Announce North American Tour, Dying Fetus Frontman To Fill In on Select Dates
Since New York brutal death metal legends Suffocation announced that vocalist Frank Mullen would no longer participate in long, comprehensive tours, fans have been speculating as to who could fill Mullen's spot. In an official announcement sent out by Suffocation, we may have just been given that answer.
Suffocation have made it clear that they weren't just looking for a fan who knows their material and can perform a guttural vocal. The band wanted a well-known death metal vocalist who fans could be excited about. Bill Robinson of Decrepit Birth has filled in for Mullen in the past, but in an exclusive interview we recently conducted with Suffocation guitarist Guy Marchais and drummer Dave Culross, they revealed that Robinson was not likely to be Mullen's concrete replacement, though the duo did praise Robinson's skills.
Finally, after much insanity-driven rocking backwards and forwards, Dying Fetus vocalist / guitarist John Gallagher has been confirmed to fill in for Mullen during seven of Suffocation's upcoming 25 North American tour dates. “I'm stoked to be performing on several shows with longtime friends and my brothers in metal, Suffocation,” says Gallagher. “It's going to be a blast and since I'll JUST be singing the vocals, they are going to be super sick and guttural. So make sure to come out and party with us and witness the brutality!”
Frank Mullen also shared his excitement for Suffocation's upcoming tour while giving much respect to Gallagher. “I’m looking forward to seeing our amazing fans on the road,” comments Mullen. “John Gallagher from Dying Fetus will be filling in for a few shows that I can’t do and I'm sure he will do an awesome job. So please show your support for him and the band! See you soon.”
