The annual KOOL 107.9 Stuff the Bus campaign in Grand Junction  has wrapped up and has officially been deemed a huge success! After three weeks of asking for donations of school supplies, the First Student bus parked at Clock Court inside Mesa Mall was unloaded this morning and we found a ton of supplies!

The last few days of the campaign have been huge, as KOOL 107.9 listeners stepped up to meet the challenge, as well as a number of local business. What looked like could be a down year for the annual school supply collection turned out to very comparable to last year's drive which netted more than 18, 000 items. We do not yet have a final tally on the number of items contributed to this year's campaign.

When we un-stuff the bus, the supplies are separated and then divided between the schools in  Mesa County School District 51. Each school is able to identify the kids who truly have the need and distributes supplies to those individuals. Parents who are struggling financially  often times will go to their respective school's office to put in a request for supplies.

We would like to thank everyone who was able to contribute to this year's Stuff the Bus Campaign. We also owe a big thanks to First Student and Mesa Mall for their tremendous support.

By the way, we just received word this morning that First Student is unable to move the bus out of the mall  until Monday. That means the bus will be there all weekend, and will still be available to receive donations of school supplies from those who want to contribute but may have missed out on the opportunity.  There definitely is still a need for donations because, honestly, the number of kids who need assistance is greater than the amount of supplies we have collected so far.
