Steamboat Operating Off of Generator as Power Grid Goes Dark
It must be a very large generator. Steamboat Springs witnessed a 'perfect storm' when it comes to their power grid, after a lightning strike.
According to CBS4, it was a lighting strike to a transformer on Friday, July 10, that sent Steamboat's power grid offline. They have such a small grid and substation in Steamboat, parts aren't easy to come by. That coupled with other technical problems. leaves Steamboat without any 'steam' so to speak.
The town could be using the generator (again, I wonder how big is that thing?) for up to another three weeks.
