South Park Creators Want to Buy Denver’s Casa Bonita
Following a grim period because of being forced to close its doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there is new hope for the legendary Colorado restaurant Casa Bonita.
In case you're not familiar, Casa Bonita has been described as 'The Disneyland of Mexican Restaurants' by the two men who are looking to save it, the creators of the popular Comedy Central cartoon 'South Park.'
The creators of the show, Trey Parker and Matt Stone met during their college years at the University of Colorado in Boulder and have been collaborating together ever since. While they have had success with films such as 'Team America: World Police' and 'Baseketball, they are most known for the hit TV show 'South Park,' which is not only based in Colorado but is also named after a small town in the state.
Not only are the pair from Colorado, but they also created an episode of the popular cartoon based around the legendary Colorado restaurant. In the show, one of the crassest characters, an 8-year-old named Eric Cartman is dead set on going to Casa Bonita for one of his friends' birthday, despite their animosity towards him. He then hides the friend that was supposed to go in his place in a bunker and convinces him that the world is ending and that he has to remain underground until the Casa Bonita trip is over.
Unfortunately, the popular restaurant was forced to file for bankruptcy this past April and many Coloradans became nervous that Casa Bonita was on its way out.
However, Parker and Stone have expressed a lot of interest in not only saving the restaurant but buying it.
Parker had this to say about the idea:
We are absolutely trying to buy it. We are going to do everything we can. We want to make it right and make it amazing.
