‘Sons of Anarchy’ Season 6: Kurt Sutter Planning Prequel Series?
Kurt Sutter's FX biker drama 'Sons of Anarchy' will ride into its sixth season this fall, with the expectation of a seventh that may well prove the final year for SAMCRO, but will the franchise end there? Speaking at the recent "Hit the Ground Showrunning" panel, Sutter offered up new thoughts on his long-gestating 'Sons of Anarchy' prequel project, which could well take the form of an additional FX series, or even a movie.
Sutter pressed that he'd want 'Sons of Anarchy' to come to a close before considering the long-discussed prequel series, saying “Right now, it is just conversations. I want to let the property rest for a year or so after 'Sons' is over before jumping in." Sutter at least confirmed that the project would likely keep to the FX network rather than unfold as a cinematic feature, but how long a series would continue remains to be seen.
I don’t know if it will be a series or a limited series of say 10 to 13 episodes. I don’t want to do it as a movie – tonally, I don’t see it as a movie.
With or without a prequel series, the sixth season of ‘Sons of Anarchy’ will feature the likes of C. Thomas Howell, 'Shameless' star Steve Howey, former ‘The Shield’ star CCH Pounder, ‘Deadwood’ star Kim Dickens, while both Drea de Matteo’s Wendy and Donal Logue’s villainous Lee Toric will return, and Jimmy Smits (Nero Padilla) was upgraded to series regular. Sutter himself also has several other projects in development with FX, including the bizarre 'Diva. Clown. Killer.' and supernatural horror thriller 'Lucas Stand.'
What say you? Would you want to see a 'Sons of Anarchy' prequel series come to fruition? How would you like to see the early days of SAMCRO unfold structurally?
