It's getting close. Skiers and snowboarders your time has almost arrived. They're making snow at Powderhorn.

They're just getting started. The recent cooler temperatures have been just cold enough to fire up the snowmaking machines. They're laying the base. That helps the real stuff stick once it starts falling. If all goes according to plan the slopes will open soon. That would be earlier than normal. They currently have their "early-bird" season passes on-sale for only $499. This Sunday, November 12th they'll jump  $100 bucks to $599. As of today, the season is scheduled to start on December 15th.

For those that have the itch and would like to pick up, or unload, some gear there's a  Ski and Snowboard Swap Expo today and tomorrow at Colorado Mesa University inside the Maverick Pavilion Center. It runs from 6 pm- 9 pm this evening and Saturday from 9 am- 3 pm. Its $5 for adults, kids 12 and under are free. You can score some deals and grab some free ski and snowboard waxes.
