It's important to look professional at your job, and especially important if you work in law enforcement. Sheriff Doc Holladay (of course that's his name) of Pulaski County, Ark. has a pretty specific idea of what makes his deputies look professional - cowboy hats.

The sheriff's office has spent over $26,000 on cowboy hats recently. The thing is, officers aren't required to wear them except for certain special occasions. They didn't get just cheap hats, either. These hats averaged out to be about $100 per hat.

Do you think cowboy hats were an appropriate expense, or do you think the money should have been spent on other things?
