Sen. Cory Gardner in Self-Quarantine After Meeting COVID-19 Positive Constituent

Senator Cory Gardner is in self-quarantine after being in contact with a Colorado constituent who has now tested positive for the coronavirus.

Representative Jason Crow also interacted with the constituent and is in self-quarantine as well.

According to The Coloradoan, the constituent also came into contact with Senator Michael Bennet, but he has decided not to self-quarantine.

The Tri-County Health Department alerted the three lawmakers about the constituent, who met with them in Washington D.C. on March 11.

Gardner is currently asymptomatic, but stated that his is self-quarantining out of an abundance of caution, noting that "the health and safety of Coloradans and Americans across the nation" is his top priority.

A spokeswoman for Bennet told The Denver Post that although Bennet is not in self-quarantine, he is practicing social distancing and consulting closely with the attending physician of the U.S. Congress.

Several city council members from Fort Collins, Loveland and Longmont were also in Washington D.C. on March 11, and did come into contact with individuals who later tested positive for the virus.

It is unknown as to whether or not the city councils members came into contact with the same person that the senators did.

However, Loveland City Manager Steve Adams, Fort Collins Mayor Wade Troxell, and other city council members are choosing to self-quarantine.
