After basically being kicked out of Byers, Colorado after a very successful first year, and a second year already all planned, Riot Fest was forced to find a new home for their Colorado festival. Today they announced that new home will be Sports Authority Field at Mile High

After much speculation, and many offers for a new venue for Riot Fest, organizers ultimately chose Sports Authority Field because management there allowed Riot Fest to "recreate Byers, Colorado and May Farms on the new fest ground," complete with carnival rides and games, miniature golf, and a large circus tent.

The show featuring artists like The Cure, Primus, Slayer and Weezer will go on the same dates as planned for Byers, and tickets already purchased will be honored. The main difference is that there will not be camping allowed. Organizers announced that refunds would be given to those who had purchased camping spots in Byers.

In the press release from organizers, you could get a sense of anger, but also pride in the fact that this festival will go on. The release ended by saying:

The fact of the matter is that even in this day and age, ignorance resides and the words “Riot Fest” unfoundedly scares people.   Punk rock still scares people.  Intelligence and wit scares people.  And we all know if we were named Good Ole Country Riot Fest, we would have never been in this situation.

Your grateful chum,

Riot Mike
