Remembering Colorado Fun Center Founded by Disney in the 1960s
Colorado has some pretty well-known places dedicated to family fun. Elitch Gardens, Lakeside Amusement Park, and Casa Bonita have all been around for decades and are Colorado staples.
However, if you were around between 1960 and 1994, you may remember another one of these types of places called the Celebrity Sports Center.
While this particular fun center has been gone for quite some time now, it certainly left its mark with plenty of memories while it was still around.

The Celebrity Sports Center first opened its doors at its location at 888 South Colorado Boulevard in the Denver suburb of Glendale in 1960. One of the main investors, believe it or not, was none other than Walt Disney.
In fact, the fun center is said to have been a sort of training center for future employees of bigger theme parks like California's Disneyland and Florida's Walt Disney World.
The fun center had a gigantic pool with numerous slides, an arcade area, and was the perfect destination for Colorado kids' birthday parties.
Not only was the facility called Celebrity's, but in addition to Walt Disney, famous people like Jack Benny, Bing Crosby, George Burns, and Burl Ives were also part of bringing the fun center to life.
However, unlike Elitch Gardens and Casa Bonita, the Celebrity Sports Center suffered financial woes that caused it to finally close its doors in 1994.
It would seem that the year of birth of The Colorado Rockies would also be the death of the Celebrity Sports Center, and today the property is home to a shopping center.
