The remains of a 12-year-old girl who has been missing since 1984 have been found in Weld County.

The girl, identified as Jonelle Matthews went missing in December of 1984 and would have been 47.

The last time she was seen alive was when she was dropped off at her home by a friend after a choir concert. Her shoes were by the door and her stockings lay across the sofa and the front door was open.

Ronald Reagan, President at that time even appealed to America to find missing children, and mentioned Jonelle by name:

"Parents cry out for help, many through letters to me. For example, I learned about Jonelle Matthews of Greeley, Colorado, who would have celebrated a happy 13th birthday with her family just last month," Reagan said. "Letters like these touch us deeply, and we've tried our best to help. Last June we opened the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which runs a toll-free hotline and gives other aid as well. But a President can only do so much. So, today I'd like to ask for your help."

Her remains were found when a work crew began digging an oil pipeline in the area.
