In upstate New York a pizza joint thought it was a good idea to commemorate the anniversary of the greatest American tragedy by selling cheese pizzas for $9.11. This can't be a good idea.Really, someone thought this was a good idea. I bet the meeting that this was decided at was late at night after a few brews. They even said that some of the proceeds would go to victim’s families.

Maybe their heart was in the right place but their head was up their ___. Now, the response from the public was to be expected. No, they didn’t show up with pitch-forks and torches like a Frankenstein movie, but they did bash the pizza place on Facebook. Riva’s Pizzeria did pull the coupon after the heat was turned up by the public. I’m sure today they have re-thought this and are trying to make an apology to the people in their area, but I bet their pizza sales are WAY down today.

My advice is the next time you want to commemorate 9/11, Book your local park, get a couple of local bands, fly the Stars & Stripes, ask the public to come out and light a candle for the fallen and supply the pizza for free. I bet Riva’s Pizzeria would see a jump in sales and they wouldn’t tick-off the people they need to keep the doors open. Just a thought.
