New Windsor Trout Pond, Restaurant Opening
There's a new spot to both catch and eat trout in Colorado.
Ted's Trout Pond and Ted's Sweetwater Grill formally opened in the RainDance Community in Windsor on Friday (May 29). A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Tuesday (May 26). RainDance and Water Valley residents get to use the pond first this weekend before it opens to the general public.
The pond at 2191 Covered Bridge Parkway is now stocked with 2,500 trout. Customers can rent fishing poles to catch trout — if you catch one of the 250 golden trouts, you also win free Colorado Eagles tickets.
Ted's Trout Pond staff clean and cut up the fish for patrons, allowing customers to take home their catch.
"We've been wanting to so something like this for years," said RainDance developer and Colorado Eagles owner Martin Lind at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Soon, people will be able to have the adjacent restaurant Ted's Sweetwater Grill cook their fish up.
The new eatery and bar serves trout dishes as well as burgers and sandwiches. The Colorado Cherry Co. also continues to sell pies and pastries out of the space.
The new spots are named after Ted Lind, Martin's father, who used to farm the land that RainDance is located. Ted cast the first line and caught the first trout at the ribbon-cutting ceremony that was also attended by new Windsor mayor Paul Rennemeyer.
Ted's partnered with both Scheels and the Colorado Eagles.
The RainDance Community is also opening a new water park.
