New Lake Now Open to Public in Durango
A new lake is now open to the public in Durango. Lake Nighthorse has been in the works for a while but as of today, its now another lake open to Coloradans.
Lake Nighthorse has been in the works since 2003. The lake is a man-made reservoir and spans over two square miles. As of today (March 31) Lake NIghthorse open the children and will open to the public tomorrow (April 1).
The lake is stocked with two different kinds of trout (rainbow and brown) and kokanee salmon.
Lake Nighthorse is now open on weekends through May 13 for the following fun activites:
- Fishing
- Swimming
- Kayaking
- Paddle boarding
Motorized boats are allowed starting on May 15. I'm personally excited to have another great lake in Western Colorado. The more places to fish, the better. I can't wait for the opportunity to fish for trout and salmon, all in the same lake.
Light Nighthorse is about two miles Southwest of Durango, according to the Denver Post.
