Interstate 70 has been closed in both directions due to a massive landslide near the No Name exit. The closure is between Glenwood Springs and Dotsero. There is also an additional closing point at West Rifle.

According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, the mudslide was caused by debris flow from the Grizzly Creek Fire of 2020.

That fire burned more than 32,000 acres and was going for about four months.

Crews are currently checking things out and assessing ways to safely reopen the freeway but there is currently no timetable for that.

For the time being and until further notice, if you're traveling WESTBOUND on I-70 coming from Denver, you can travel to Silverthorne then turn north onto CO 9.

In Kremmling, travelers should turn onto westbound US Highway 40 towards Steamboat Springs. After reaching Craig, motorists can return south via CO 13 towards Rifle. Access to I-70 westbound is at Rifle.

If you're traveling EASTBOUND on I-70, you can reach the Denver area by traveling the route above in reverse.
