Eat your heart out Orson Welles. Granted, Orson Welles did not have the type of technology that we have today, but the prank pulled off on Monday would have made dear Orson proud.

An apparent hacker took over the television airwaves in Montana Monday and used the station’s Emergency Alert System to inform viewers that a zombie apocalypse was underway.

The warnings interrupted the regularly scheduled programming of KRTV and the CW, located in Great Falls, Montana. According to the Associated Press, the false warnings told of zombies "attacking the living" and warned people not to "approach or apprehend these bodies as they are extremely dangerous."

The Associated Press also reported the hoax generated four calls to the Great Falls Police Department to see if the warning was true.

The stations pulled the alert off the airwaves, and then issued this statement:

"Someone apparently hacked into the Emergency Alert System and announced on KRTV and the CW that "dead bodies are rising from their graves" in several Montana counties. This message did not originate from KRTV, and there is no emergency. Our engineers are investigating to determine what happened and if it affected other media outlets."

Below is a clip of the false alert:
