Former Molly Hatchet Singer Jimmy Farrar Dead
Former Molly Hatchet singer Jimmy Farrar has died at age 68. According to a Molly Hatchet fan page, Farrar passed away due to complications from congestive heart failure, kidney failure and liver failure.
Molly Hatchet bassist Tim Lindsey confirmed Farrar's death on Facebook:
Farrar is perhaps most well known for his vocals on Molly Hatchet’s 1980 album, Beatin’ the Odds. The album went platinum in the U.S. and delivered the singles “Beatin’ the Odds” and “The Rambler.” He remained with the band for 1981’s Take No Prisoners, ultimately parting ways with the southern rock band in 1982.
"We had a lot of internal problems in the band, drinking and drugs and just stress from the road," Farrar told Swampland. "And living away from my family was like a living hell for me and I knew that I could not raise my family 5,000 miles away, and I made the choice to go home and raise my family."
The vocalist would go on to front Predator and Section 8 before joining other former Holly Hatchet members in Gator Country.
We’d like to extend our deepest condolences to the loved ones of Jimmy Farrar.
