Mesa County teens can connect via Google Hangouts to share what they've been reading, watching, or listening to. "Teen Readers Meetup" happens every Wednesday.

Have you read a fascinating book and want to tell everyone about it? In a time of social isolation, this can be a little difficult. That's where this service from the Mesa County Libraries comes in.

Normally Teen Readers Meetup would happen at the library. For the time being, these sessions will be conducted online via Google Hangouts. The format remains the same: teens (this group is limited to teenagers) can share their excitement about what they've read, listened to, or watched. In addition, participants get access to advanced copies of pre-published materials and a chance to review them before everyone else.

Given the School District 51 closures and increased social isolation, this is an excellent opportunity to interact with your peers. The group meets at 4 p.m. on Wednesdays, with sessions lasting about an hour.

If you're like me, you're probably not familiar with Google Hangouts. It's available from Google Play or the Apple Store. You can also access Google Hangouts from your desktop.

This sounds like a fascinating activity. It would certainly break the monotony during the school closures. Why not get started now, and then when things get back to normal, participate with the group when the "in-person" sessions return to the library? Be ready to go this Wednesday at 4 p.m.
