Mastodon may have released Once More 'Round the Sun last year, but fans should brace themselves for a bevy of offerings in the coming months. The latest announcement is that the band has recorded a track for the Catch the Throne: The Mixtape Vol. 2 compilation that will be released free of charge via Soundcloud on March 17. The set features songs that were inspired by HBO's popular series, Game of Thrones.

Though the title of the band's contribution has not been revealed, it has been announced that they'll join Anthrax, Killswitch Engage and Mushroomhead among the rock and metal acts on the compilation. Other artists of note on the set include Snoop Dogg, Talib Kweli, Method Man, Melanie Fiona, Estelle and more. The fifth season of Game of Thrones starts April 12 on HBO.

In other recent Mastodon news, the band has announced that they will reissue all of their Reprise Records titles on vinyl in the coming months. The first album in the series is 2006's Blood Mountain, which is already available in solid yellow and transparent green vinyl. More titles will roll out as the year continues.

And finally, with Record Store Day fast approaching, it's been announced that Mastodon will offer a limited edition 12" vinyl picture disc that includes the new song "Atlanta" featuring guest vocals by Butthole Surfers' Gibby Haynes. The B-Side is a previously unreleased instrumental version of "Atlanta." The disc also features original artwork done by Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds. So be on the lookout for Mastodon's "Atlanta" on April 18 -- Record Store Day.

Meanwhile, be sure to catch Mastodon on tour this spring. They'll be joining Clutch for dates beginning April 16 in St. Paul, Minn. See their itinerary here.
