Living in a cabin located in the glorious Rocky Mountains of Colorado may sound glamorous to some, but to Billy Barr it's simply a way of life.

Barr lives alone in a cabin in a cabin he helped build in the ghost town of Gothic, Colorado, near Crested Butte.

For 40 years, Barr has passed the time all by himself - meticulously recording data about the snowpack, measuring snowfall and recording temperatures daily. It hasn't been in vain.

Researchers at the nearby Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory are looking at his data scientifically to study climate change, and Barr's evidence seems pretty clear - it's getting warmer.

This video from National Geographic.com is a short film produced by Morgan Heim of  Day's Edge Productions that shows Billy Barr in "action" doing what he does. It's pretty amazing.
