Listeners Share Ideas of What to Do with the Vacant Carmike Theater Building
When the Carmike Theater in Grand Junction closed down over a month ago, we asked listeners what they would like to see go in at that location and they responded with plenty of ideas.
The Carmike Theater building sets across from Mesa Mall on 24 1/2 Road so it seems to be a prime location for the right kind of business, but what should that business be?
We asked our listeners what they would like to see in that location, and surprisingly, 77% wanted to see another theater. While it may be tough for a small theater to compete with the likes of Regal Cinemas down the road, perhaps a budget theater could do well - showing classic movies, and maybe even first-run movies at the end of their theater run.
Another 11% of listeners would like to see a restaurant at the location next to Barnes and Noble Booksellers. It might be a good location for Joe's Crab Shack, to give Red Lobster some competition. Popeye's Chicken might be a good option, or for Italian food lovers, Fazoli's is always a good choice.
A total of 4% of respondents had their own ideas of what would make sense.
