Limp Bizkit’s Wes Borland Draws the Teenage Life of Avenged Sevenfold’s ‘Deathbat’ Mascot
Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland just answered a question no one has ever asked, but definitely should have: "What was Avenged Sevenfold's 'Deathbat' like when he was alive?" In a new DIY series of sketches, Borland takes us through the former life of the Deathbat as imagined by the Limp Bizkit guitarist.
Taking one look at Wes Borland onstage, you immediately know the dude has a bizarre mind. The body-painted and bedazzled musician has taken his talents to Limp Bizkit, Black Light Burns, Filter and even rapper Tech N9ne. Borland has proven himself as multi-talented in a musical capacity, but what about as an amateur cartoonist?
In this first sketch, Borland introduces his depiction of the Deathbat in his teenage years:
Deathbat had a rough time in school thanks to his extra appendages. Bullying isn't cool, kids.

The future A7X mascot attempted to cover his head-wings using hats over the years, but clerks behind the counter wouldn't even serve the freaky bat/human hybrid in a shameful display of discrimination.

In a shocking twist, Deathbat discovered that his brain actually spanned past the skull and into his wings! This rare medical condition made it impossible for Deathbat to have his wings surgically removed.
Puberty can be a rough time, and Deathbat suffered from depression due to his extra attributes. Deathbat's cat was the man's only friend, and the two would sit beside each other while Deathbat contemplated life's greatest questions, which in his case included, "What's with these effing wings on my head?!?"
Unfortunately, many great historical figures have only been truly appreciated long after they've passed away. This can be attributed to Deathbat, as his skull has become Avenged Sevenfold's official calling card, being tattooed on countless fans throughout the years. You've won in the end, Deathbat! Even if Overkill fans stand by Chaly instead.
