Former Korn Drummer David Silveria: It’s Wrong to Go Play the Debut Record Without Me

As revealed earlier this year, Korn are planning to revisit their self-titled debut album at select live dates as a celebration of the disc's 20th anniversary. But not all of the members from that original release will be on hand for those shows, as the group has moved on without drummer David Silveria.

In a new Rolling Stone feature on the disc, Silveria says, "I feel like it was wrong to go play this record without me because I was just as much of a creative input as any of these guys while writing and making this record. So I think it was wrong to do it without me."

However, Silveria, who had left the door open for a return to the band in comments over the last year, reveals that he's come to terms with it. "It's not really weird," says Silveria. "They've been playing and touring years without me. I just think they should've asked me to come play the tour."

The drummer wasn't the only person who commented on revisiting the album live. Frontman Jonathan Davis commented on plans to perform 'Daddy,' a song about Davis' parents refusing to believe the reality that he was molested as a child. "I'll be playing 'Daddy,' but that song is just so old news to me," Davis says. "It's not going to affect me like it did back then. There was abuse there, I dealt with it, and the person who abused me is dead now. Karma took them. [Laughs] And, y'know, I've buried that. I'm just going to play the song for the people that need it, you know what I mean?"

Guitarist Brian "Head" Welch adds, "I'm OK, cause I'm not broken anymore over everything. I'm made whole again. I think I'll have some thoughts and some feelings, but I don't think it'll be a difficult process or anything like that. I'm strong enough to where it's in the past and it's all healed up."

Fellow guitarist Munky states, "[Playing the whole album will] definitely bring back some good memories. I think, on a personal level, everybody had their ups and downs with girlfriends or whatever. But as far as the band, it was always great – we always had a lot of fun together," while bassist Fieldy concludes, "I think it's going to be every emotion we can think of."
