Grand Junction Spent Too Much Time At These Mesa Mall Stores In The 80s
Back in the 1980s, many of us in Grand Junction, Colorado, used to hang out at Mesa Mall. We didn't necessarily buy anything, we just kind of hung out.
Looking back on the 1980s, did you squander a measurable percentage of your life at the mall? If so, where did you hang out? I posted on Facebook, "Name a store at Mesa Mall you spent way too much time in back in the 80s."

Background On Grand Junction's Mesa Mall
If you lived in Grand Junction prior to 1980, you can recall a time when there was no Mesa Mall. Back then you had downtown. Mesa Mall was constructed in 1980 by General Grown Properties. When it first opened we had Sears. Yep, that was pretty much it... Sears.
Just Hanging Out
According to the website All That Is Interesting, "In the 1980s and 1990s, the shopping mall was one of the most iconic meeting spots for young Americans. Not only was the mall convenient for one-stop shopping, but it was also a great place to see and be seen."
Hanging Out at Aladdin's Castle
If I could have back half the money I spent at Aladdin's Castle in the 1980s I would have enough money to pay off my house. Back in the 1980s, it was simply an arcade with various video games and pinball machines. I don't recall anything about winning tickets that could be redeemed for prizes. That came later.
Who Would Have Guessed?
Back in the 80s, Mervyn's occupied the spot where you'll now find Cabella's. It was a popular place for clothes, shoes, and housewares. Almost everyone who replied stated they spent quite a bit of time at Mervyn's. It's hard to understand why the place closed. Sadly, the entire Mervyn's chain shut down in 2008.
